Turtles & Frogs
Asa has been so much FUN lately! He's very expressive and he's more alert and awake during the daytime. He's also doing amazing when it comes to sleeping! We have him on a schedule (Praise Jesus for Baby Wise!!) and he will eat every 2.5-3 hours during the day and he has been sleeping 10 hours at night for almost a week now, and 9 hours before that! He is 10 weeks old and our goal is 12 hours a night by 12 weeks old... we said that when he was 3 weeks old, but I thought it was impossible... and he's just doing it on his own!! :) He's such a good little man! It's so nice knowing what to expect with him. I have struggled with feeding him... I had to start supplementing with formula on his 2 month old birthday, 2 Saturdays ago... and it was a very rough transition. Currently we're doing every other bottle formula, but I am just not keeping up when it comes to his appetite! It's ok, though. I struggled with that for several weeks but now that we've been supplementing I am not worried and stressed daily about not having enough milk for him to drink. :) It's a relief.
So... lately we have been able to play with Asa and he will respond and play back. He still isn't really talking to us, but oh my goodness his smiles and faces are INCREDIBLE and soo so cute! We have a green frog... you can see pictures below... and Asa LOVES his Mr. Froggy. He is captivated by the thing and follows it with his eyes and coos and smiles at it whenever it is in sight. So, sweet. :) Asa also is fun to read to. His eyes watch when you turn the page and he makes faces at the colors... and it seems as if his favorite color these days is green. And... that he likes frogs. :) We have one book that has mirrors on the pages so you can see his face when you read to him... and there are several green pages in the book that you can tell he perks up at and pays attention to... but every time we come to the frog page he is mesmerized! He smiles and laughs at the frogs... Asa likes frogs. :) Check out these pictures... (He still refuses to smile when you put a camera in his face!)
I have always called Asa my "Little Turtle Face"... I can't really describe it, but he just gets this look and he looks like a turtle! :) When we were in Ohio for graduation Ryan saw a turtle in the middle of the road and we stopped and caught it in an Arby's cup. We took it to my parent's house where my little cousins and Asa had fun playing with it and then releasing it in the creek across the street from the house. Ben Thomas & Isaac named the turtle "Biter" because it was a baby snapping turtle. And my little Turtle Face got some pretty cute pictures with the turtle...
So... I'm thinking he's all boy... loves the color green, looks like a turtle, and is fascinated by frogs and turtles. :) Here's one more shot of Asa acting like a little turtle...
Hope you have a wonderful day!
Love,
Kara Joy :)

One Month Old...
Asa is Growing like the Corn in the Field!! :)
Our baby boy is growing!! Just like the corn in the field!
So... I'm sure you've been wondering how it's been going since I posted last... I have been adjusting to being back at work and it's been pretty good! Asa has had some great babysitters and it's so nice that I only work part time... 2 days one week and 3 another. The internet at the church has not been working, though, for the past 2 weeks... one of the reasons there have been no pictures of Asa to share lately! So here are a few from 2 weeks ago and then today...
We decided that we would take pictures of Asa this summer growing with the corn in the back yard... here's a shot of Asa and Ryan and Claxton with the corn 2 weeks ago... (Notice how Asa stares at Claxton!)
And here's some of Asa and Ryan and Claxton today with the corn...
More pictures soon!
Love you!
